How we work
Taste Right runs your production, so you can focus on what you do best
Most founders start a drinks brand because they're good at building a brand, a flavour, a following, a story people want to be part of. Very few start it because they wanted to spend their week chasing a co-packer for a production update. At some point, most of our clients realise those two jobs pull in different directions, and that's usually when they ask us to take production off their plate entirely.
What "running production" actually means
It's not just placing an order and hoping for the best. It means managing the relationship with your co-packer day to day, chasing lead times before they slip rather than after, checking quality control is actually happening rather than being a box someone ticks, and stepping in the moment a batch doesn't look right. It's the unglamorous, time-consuming half of running a drinks brand, and it's also the half that, done badly, can sink a brand fastest. We've written more on this specific piece in why you need independent QC at your co-packer.
Why founders hand this over
Time is the obvious reason, every hour spent managing a production line is an hour not spent on the marketing, sales relationships, and product development that actually grow a brand. But there's a second reason that matters just as much: a co-packer relationship works better when someone independent is holding both sides accountable. We don't run a factory, so we've no reason to protect a co-packer's interests over yours, and we've seen enough production lines to know what a genuine problem looks like versus an excuse.
What stays in your hands
Your brand, your recipe direction, your commercial decisions, all of that stays exactly where it should be, with you. What we take on is the operational layer underneath it: the calls, the site visits, the quality checks, the troubleshooting when something goes wrong. You get updates when there's something worth knowing, not a constant stream of admin.
Who this actually suits
Two kinds of brand tend to reach out for this. The first is a founder who's already stretched thin, wearing every hat in the business and watching production slip down the priority list because there simply isn't time. The second is a brand that's been burned once already, a missed deadline, an inconsistent batch, a co-packer that stopped being proactive, and wants an independent pair of eyes on the relationship going forward. If any of that sounds familiar, our piece on 5 signs your production partner is letting you down covers the warning signs in more detail.
Common questions
Does Taste Right replace my co-packer?
No. Taste Right doesn't produce anything ourselves, we manage and oversee the relationship with the co-packer who does. That independence is the point: we've no factory of our own to protect, so every decision is made in your interest.
Is this only for brands with an existing production problem?
Not at all. Plenty of founders bring us in from the start simply because they'd rather focus on building the brand than managing a production line day to day. It's just as useful before a problem happens as after one.
What does day-to-day involvement actually look like?
It varies by brand, but typically includes managing lead times and communication with the co-packer, being present for or checking on quality control, and being the first call if a batch, a delivery, or a process doesn't go to plan.
Want production off your plate?
Taste Right manages the co-packer relationship for founders who'd rather spend their time on the brand, based in London, working across the UK.
